Hi My 09 tdci Mondeo MK4 has a strange temperature gauge issue. Sometimes it will appear ok (it never goes past halfway) but most other times not really. Usually it will warm up fairly slowly and only get up to halfway when at speed (60+), slowly dropping down to 1/4 or just below when encountering towns/traffic and driving at a lower speed, but occasionally it does spend most of the journey
Sounds like a couple of broken wires, all right. A cheap and cheerful multimeter from the likes of Maplin or Halford's should do the trick. Disconnect the brake light, _turn on the ignition_ to position 2 (i.e. gauges on, not starting the engine) and have someone push the pedal while you measure.
The alternator may be charging still, but just not enough to cover the electrical needs of your Mondeo. Dead Battery. A dead battery is the end result of an alternator not charging enough. Usually the battery light will have been on for a bit, the vehicle runs fine, and when you go to start it back up it won’t crank.
See if the wipers work, your lights should deffinitly come on though. take your hand away and let the lights go out. Now throw some water over the sensor area and see what happens, hopefully your wipoers will work but your lights will not come on. Unless ford have done a double, and decided if its raining lights should come on too, which I
Relay - there is no reversing light relay in this type of the BCM, my understanding is that the power comes from BCM itself. Bulb - checked the bulbs which both look fine Reversing light switch - given the parking sensor and reverse cam working as normal, I don't think it's the problem on the reversing light switch as the signal is transferring ok.

I don't believe the Ford dealer simply "charged the battery" as that implies the Smart charge system has failed. Does anyone have any advice on how to resolve the low battery message on a 2010 reg mondeo. With the ignition switched off and the radio on, a message appears on the dash indicating low battery and the radio switches off after app. 2

There is possibly a software update that delays booting up the forward alert system until the engine has started. Mines in for a diagnostic check next week so we shall see.
